New Necklace!

This week I was doing some shopping, looking for something to buy to use my 50% off coupon at Joann's and I found this beautiful Geode. I have one that looks very similar but doesn't have a hole in it to attach to a necklace, (I could probably drill a small hole into it but I don't want to crack the stone). I was very excited to bring this lovely, polished rock home and make something beautiful. I am so happy with how it all came together, and I look forward to wearing it often!

Brotherly Love

Yesterday my two youngest were playing so well together. I couldn't help myself and I had to get a picture of it! My fourth child is really into playing with Legos right now and that is what had him so occupied on this particular day. Usually he yells and gets all upset when his baby brother interrupts him while he his building, but he was happy to have the company for a change on this day! Such sweet kids I have been blessed to have in my life.

Crafting Endeavors

This year I am putting more time into my inner
craftiness! Whatever free time I have (which isn't very much granted) I want to create things. I want to make beautiful things to wear, and decorate my house with, and give to others. I'm sure this year is going to be a great year!
Here are a few of my favorite things that I have made recently.
Enjoy!

Our little baby!

We have recently discovered that we were blessed with a very mischievous baby! One day recently while his dear mother was taking care of another problem our little guy decided to cause some trouble. He so carefully pushed the step stool up against the toilet where he left his sippy cup and his momma's phone. Then he climbed up onto the step stool and then the toilet. After that he climbed up to the sink to have some fun! He sat his cute little self in the sink and thoroughly soaked his socks and pants in the sink until one of his sweet brothers informed me of his mischief! He was caught in the act without a care in the world and as happy as could be. Such a fun baby we have been blessed with!

Turkey shirts!

I know this is a bit delayed, but better late than never is what I say!
Thanksgiving 2010 I saw this great idea on making shirts with turkeys on them from here and here, what a cute shirt to make for my wonderful little boys right?! So I went out and bought nice white shirts and some fabric to get started. I decided to make a shirt for the two youngest because I didn't know if they were to "babyish" looking for the three oldest. When I was all done with the sewing and ironing I showed everyone and the older kids said, "Hey, where are our shirts?" So needless to say I made them turkey shirts as well, and I was so happy that they wanted to wear them!

The kids all looked great and they had fun showing their new shirts off to everyone for Thanksgiving dinner!

I found this really nice article and I wanted to share it with everyone. Such a great message especially during these sometimes trying times! Enjoy

Twenty Ways to Make a Good Marriage Great

Richard W. Linford, "Twenty Ways to Make a Good Marriage Great", Ensign, Dec. 1983, 64

1. Night and Morning Prayer … to say thanks, to ask for help in your marriage and family, to worship together.

2. A Weekly Planning Meeting … to discuss the calendar, talk over needs and problems, decide priorities and next steps. (Write decisions in a journal, including goals and discussion topics, and reasons for each.)

3. A Daily Phone Call or Personal Conversation … to say “I love you,” to touch base, to discuss the day, to show you care.

4. A Weekly Date … to a favorite park, a concert, the library, the gym; or staying home for a candlelight dinner, a game, or a mutual hobby.

5. Patience Regardless … of missed meals, tardiness, forgotten favors, a thoughtless remark, impatience.

6. Daily Service … helping with house or yard work, mending a piece of clothing, taking a turn with the sick baby, fixing a favorite meal. (Write it down. Do it!)

7. A Budget … to tie down income and expenses, help set financial goals, and give you control over your finances.

8. Listening … not only to what is said, but also to what is meant.

9. Regular Attendance … at church—and where possible—the temple.

10. Daily Scripture Reading … to learn the gospel, to receive inspiration for yourself and your marriage, to become more like Jesus.

11. Working Together … caring for a garden, painting a bedroom, washing the car, scrubbing floors, building a piece of furniture, writing a poem together, team teaching a class.

12. Forgiving Each Other … always learning from each other, trying a different way, being the first to make peace.

13. Courtesies … like saying please and thank you, not interrupting or belittling, not doing all the talking, continuing the niceties of courtship.

14. Soft and Kind Words … of tenderness, compassion, empathy.

15. Learning Together by … reading to each other, discussing ideas, taking a class.

16. Respecting … opinions, ideas, privacy.

17. Supporting Your Spouse’s … Church callings and righteous goals.

18. Caring for Your Spouse’s Family by … enjoying their company, praying for them, serving them, overlooking differences.

19. Occasional Gifts … such as a note, a needed item—but mostly gifts of time and self.

20. Loving with All Your Heart. “Thou shalt love thy wife [thy husband] with all thy heart, and shalt cleave unto her [him] and none else.” (D&C 42:22.)

Christmas 2010

The family and I always take trip to see Santa a few Saturdays before Christmas. This past year was no exception! The boys had fun, as usual, telling Santa everything they wanted for Christmas. They are always so cute, and the Santa we visit has toys he gives to the children each year which is a plus!
Hope everyone had a joyous holiday season, we sure did!

Family Photos

During the beautiful fall season last year we had family pictures taken by a wonderful young lady here. They turned out beautifully and I am so happy to have an updated picture of my wonderful family. I continue to be so amazed that I have 5 kids! Never would have thought when I was an immature teenager that my life would be this way-but I wouldn't change a thing! My family brings me so much happiness and peace, and they help me to be a better person.
